Jenna Ortega Says Wednesday Addams Would Hate 'Wednesday'

In a new interview, the actor opens up about her favorite character.

In a new interview, Jenna Ortega spills on Season 2 of Netflix‘s Wednesday.

After earning the title of Netflix’s second most popular English series, the hit show was renewed for a new season. The series has held many viral moments, most importantly the Wednesday Addams dance that became a TikTok trend. Ironically, Ortega believes her character, Wednesday, would’ve hated the series’ success. When asked how her character would feel about her fame, she bluntly stated, “She doesn’t care.”

She continued, ”It’s pretty funny when you think about it. She’s an outsider, but now she’s on these mugs, cereal boxes and T-shirts. You’re just thinking, ‘Oh, man, she would hate this!’” Her character’s personality is one she wishes she could adopt, Ortega revealed. She added, “I mean, God, if you could speak to everybody like Wednesday — just say what you truly mean — it would be amazing!”

In a 2023 interview with InStyle, she revealed that the stoic character’s fashion style influenced her both on and off set. “I do think that Wednesday changed my taste a lot. I have a hard time getting her off of me, at least clothing-wise,” she said. “It’s also something that I’ve always wanted to do. I just never felt like I could. I feel like there were always a lot of voices and opinions that I used to place too much value in.”

Ortega has never shied away from making necessary changes for her character. “I’m just so curious I want to see the outfits, new characters that are coming in, scripts and they were gracious enough to let me put the producer hat on.” For next season, “We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great,” she said.

Stay tuned for the Season 2 premiere this summer.
