Addison Rae's "Fame is a Gun" Music Video Further Cements Her It-Girl Status

Ahead of her debut album, which is set to release on June 6.

Is it too big of a statement to say that Addison Rae is this generation’s Britney Spears? We don’t think so. That’s exactly the energy she’s serving — and her new music video for “Fame is a Gun” only seals the deal.

If you’ve been watching Rae’s recent music drops, you’ll know she’s not out here releasing basic pop visuals — these are, some might even argue, cinematic moments. Every detail — from costume to choreography to set design — feels curated, intentional and part of a universe she’s clearly building.

In “Headphones On,” stylist Dara put her in vintage American Apparel and topped it off with Apple‘s classic wired headphones — a tiny but genius nod to the 2014 Tumblr-core revival Rae so naturally embodies. “Fame is a Gun” takes it even further with David Lynch meets Gregg Araki vibes — grungy, surreal, queer-coded and dripping in moody pop nostalgia.

Sonically, the track echoes the ghosts of edgy alt-pop past — hints of old-school Grimes (RIP), early Marina and the Diamonds, peak Britney and a dash of Gaga-era theatrical flair. It’s chaotic, deliberate and somehow still extremely cohesive.

Addison Rae’s music video for “Fame is a Gun” is available to watch on YouTube and mark your calendars, her debut album drops on June 6.
