These Are the Hottest Fashion Items of the Year So Far
Based on the latest Q1 report from Lyst.
It’s that time again. Lyst is back with its quarterly index report, analyzing the biggest brands and fashion buys. For its Q1 report, the global search engine has once again looked at the hottest brands in the world, along with the 10 hottest fashion items, all based on user search data.
This time, LOEWE is back on top as the hottest brand as a result of Jonathan Anderson’s departure, with fans rushing to purchase a piece from his final collections. According to Lyst, news of Anderson’s exit sparked a 38% increase in searches for the brand. Taking the second spot is Miu Miu — a brand that needs no introduction — followed by Saint Laurent, Coach and Prada. In sixth place is Cos, which jumped 11 spaces, followed by Bottega Veneta, The Row, Chloe and Alaia.
The report also includes three brands that are “moving fast” this quarter and deserve keeping an eye on. For Q1, these brands include Duran Lantink — the new creative director of Jean Paul Gaultier — plus Dries Van Noten and Levi’s. Lantink recently made pretty big headlines following his Paris Fashion Week showcase, while Levi’s has likely risen in popularity as a result of its ongoing BeyoncĂ© collaboration.
In terms of the hottest items, it appears that Kendrick Lamar‘s flared jeans moment at the Super Bowl sent CELINE searches soaring, driving a 412% increase. Elsewhere, the list included trending items like PUMA’s Speedcat Ballerina and Miu Miu’s suede pouch bag.
Read on to find out more about the 10 hottest items from Q1.
1. CELINE Marco Washed Jeans
2. Adidas Taekwondo Sneakers
3. PUMA Speedcat Ballerina
4. Saint Laurent Gaby Vanity Bag
Saint Laurent‘s Gaby Vanity Bag comes in at number four, likely spotted with some of the internet’s biggest it-girls. The accessory also feels in line with the shift towards charms, trinkets and unusual statement bags.
5. Miu Miu Suede Pouch Bag
Miu Miu seems to be a brand that’ll always be in fashion, particularly when it takes the second spot on the Lyst Index. We’ve seen a rise in slouchy suede bags and hobo silhouettes, but the brand’s smaller Pouch bag seems to signal an appetite for more streamlined bag silhouettes.
6. COS Barrel-leg Trousers
Overall, COS comes in at number six in Lyst’s hottest brands list, with a 44% increase in demand. Its movement marks the first time that a mass-fashion label has entered Lyst’s top 10 — which makes a pretty big statement. As well as that placement, COS’s Barrel Leg Trousers also come in sixth place in the items list.
7. Alo Yoga Accolade Hoodie
Alo Yoga has been quietly rising through the ranks this last year, likely due to new store openings in the UK and a slew of it-girl brand ambassadors, plus an increase in interest surrounding health, fitness and wellness. The brand’s Accolade Hoodie comes in at number seven, likely worn by one of its celebrity fans.
8. UNIQLO Colored Socks
It’s not the first time that Uniqlo has featured in Lyst’s hottest items list, but this may be its most affordable item yet. Priced at just $3.90, the brand’s colorful socks come in at number nine.
9. Paraboot Michael Shoes
10. Chloe Mini Ruffled Dress
Finally, Chloe’s Mini Ruffled Dress takes the 10th spot in the list, probably due to the recent boho revival and Moto Boho trend. Inspired by the likes of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, plus Ann Demeulemeester and Isabel Marant, the trend favors floaty, asymmetrical dresses in sheer, pastel fabrics.
